Thanksgiving, an eagerly anticipated American slasher film directed by Eli Roth, is set to hit screens on November 17, 2023. A star-studded ensemble that includes Rick Hoffman, Gina Gershon, Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaque, and Rick Hoffman, the movie is based on Roth’s spoof trailer that was used for the 2007 movie Grindhouse.
Thanksgiving is the third full-length movie that was influenced by Grindhouse’s spoof trailers; the other two being Machete (2010) and Hobo with a Shotgun (2011). It seems to be an exciting and dramatic cinematic experience.
Thanksgiving Movie Cast
Patrick Dempsey was cast in the movie in February 2023, while Addison Rae was cast in the starring role later the same month. Milo Manheim, Nell Verlaque, and Jalen Thomas Brooks were chosen for parts that were not made public.

Thanksgiving Production Journey
Thanksgiving originated when filmmaker Eli Roth made a fictitious trailer for the 2007 film Grindhouse. The excitement created by the teaser led to ideas for a feature-length version, on which Jeff Rendell and Roth co-wrote the script. In August 2012, Jon Watts and Christopher D. Ford joined the team to compose the screenplay. Roth had said in 2010 that he was committed to the project and that work was being done on the script.
But Roth didn’t admit that more rewriting of the script was necessary to make sure the movie lived up to the intensity of the first trailer until June 2016, during a Reddit conversation.
There was talk in February 2019 that Roth was attached to a mystery horror movie for Miramax, which raised the possibility that Thanksgiving was being developed.
In January 2023, Spyglass Media Group’s involvement in the production of Thanksgiving was disclosed by Deadline Hollywood. Resigning from Borderlands (2024), Roth gave Tim Miller more photography so he could concentrate on directing the movie.
Thanksgiving, the culmination of years of anticipation and creative evolution, promises to deliver a chilling slasher experience to audiences on November 17, 2023. With Roth at the helm and a stellar cast bringing the story to life, fans of horror and suspense have much to look forward to in this highly awaited cinematic venture.
